Continuing with our report from the CES 2010 definitely one of the stars of the show was Samsung’s 9000 Series 3D TV, LED backlighting and at a mere 8 mm thick which is the same width as a pencil its definitely as skinny as they can get. it comes with an lcd remote control that enables you to watch TV on it as well, the TV also gives you the option to browse the internet and make use of Samsung’s newly announced app store to download widgets to your tv. Samsung also used the exhibition to demo the first Blu-ray 3D disc so don’t go crazy replacing your old dvd collection on Blu-ray just yet..

At this years CES 2010, Sony made it very clear that it was going to be the trailblazer with regards to 3D Tv’s, as part of the showcase Taylor Swift performed live and she was simultaneously projected in 3D on large projection screens behind her, at the moment Sony manufactures most of the camera’s used to capture 3D content and it will also play a big role in the upcoming ESPN 3D network.
Sony also announced 38 HDTV models but the star of the show was undoubtedly the LX900 series pictured above, it presents a new paradigm for Sony with many aspects especially design, termed Monolithic design it takes away all the bezel and design elements of yesteryears and gives a finished product that focusses mainly on the star of the show, the picture! thus avoiding any distractions. edge LED backlighting also helps to keep the profile slim. Monolithic models also come with a six degree upward tilt option which the company says offers a more natural, comfortable viewing option. prices tba but as you can imagine it will not come cheap, no doubt as the technology becomes more widely available and the competition rises we will see a certain drop in the future. watch this space.
